Date Sunday 9th October 2022
We had fantastic weather and I was joined by two of our new members. The water level is very low so we were unable to giant stride in so we entered via the steps.
Dive 1 was down to the wheel house and on to the caravan, we followed the line to the poppy. After a few minutes getting control on the dry suits we headed over to the Helicopter. The visibility around there was a bit stirred up, we followed the tyres over to the crushing plant and entered via the far holes in the corner. Using the walls for reference we ascended up to the 12 meter plateau, after spending some time exploring the plane sections, at a 100 Bar we headed for the normal safety stop on the road.
Dive 2 we again entered via the steps, broke the surface and headed straight for the Jacquin II, we started heading up the road to the Escort and straight into a white out, visibility was zero. I turned back and found the Wheel house then headed towards the Helicopter but maintaining 18 meters, we followed the wall until we reached the Crushing plant. This time we entered via the bigger hole. Ascended up to the 12 meter plateau and headed down to the far end where it stops, we came back along the drop off back to the crushing plant, we dropped down through the steelwork and headed over to the tunnel entrance, then up to the safety stop.
After completing the safety stop we all practiced deploying our DSMBs.
I must say we had two brilliant dives, both new members practiced dry suit control, worked on their trim and buoyancy, followed by their first practice with DSMB, one using a reel and the other the clubs crack bottle.
Future dates are booked for 20th November and 11th December.
