Sadly our intended dive to 100m was blown out – even in the Mediterranean you can get blown out! – so we had to change plan at the last minute. I did consider binning it to give myself a break, off gass, reduce overall stress and spend time with the family but decided to carry on, use the gas, take the experience and time on the unit instead.

Today will be a little bimble along some cables running across the Mediterranean to Algeria (one presumes!) with a max depth of about 70m.

For this one I did not take my hood so was frankly, chilled on the bottom after 33 degrees on the surface, even though it was 15 on the bottom, so warmer than yesterday!

This was a lovely little dive but would benefit from a scooter in order to simply see more and fight the current a little – although there was not a huge amount, probably about 0.3knots. It is hower possible to hide among the rocks which helps but does make swimming against the current a bit awkward.

This dive was fun due to the massive amount of fish life and coral but my bouyancy was terrible. I felt like I could not manually control the PO2 as well as I wanted – too much loop volume perhaps?

Our gas density for this dive was much less 4.40 /litre using a decent PO2 of 1.3.

The decompression this time, while not ideal with the loop volume was interesting as we managed to find a huge moray eel swimming around as well as an Octopus trying to hide himself within a rock.

A pretty cool dive if I’m honest, even if it was shallower than anticipated!
