Swanage Boat Charters – April Shakedown Skills and Drills
Three days of boat diving with Swanage Boat Charters. two dives per day one wreck dive and one drift/scenic/reef dive.
Swanage Boat charters run two boats Mary Jo and Viper, we have Viper booked for the three days
There are a huge number of wrecks off Swanage but for this weekend we will be aiming for some of the shallower wrecks such as the Valentine tanks which sit at 15m or the Fleur de Lys and Barge that sit at 13m. All dives will be tide and weather allowing, we will go with the skipper’s advice on the day.
On the Day
There is limited parking on the pier but you will need to be there early to grab a space. Spaces are normally full by 7am. There is additional parking adjacent to the pier, you can grab a trolley unload your kit and then park in the alternative car park.
Ropes off times will be given nearer to the date. All divers must be ready at the pontoon 15 minutes before ropes off time fully kitted. We come back to the pier between dives. Recommended that you have two cylinders for each day. There is a dive shop on the pier that you can normally get air fills from.
There are toilets and a café on the pier and also a shower to be able to rinse off your drysuit after diving. The café provides hot food, cakes and drinks.
All divers should have a DSMB and be competent in the deployment of the DSMB. It is recommended that you have a primary and secondary torch. Being this is one of the first dives for many this season do not forget to check and ensure all of your equipment is serviced and ready for diving. Pay particular attention to regulator service dates and cylinder service dates.
